Project Details
Zero liquid discharge (ZLD) is an engineering approach to water treatment where all water is recovered and contaminants are reduced to solid waste. While many water treatment processes attempt to maximize recovery of freshwater and minimize waste, ZLD is the most demanding target since the cost and challenges of recovery increase as the wastewater gets more concentrated. Salinity, scaling compounds, and organics all increase in concentration, which adds costs associated with managing these increases. ZLD is achieved by stringing together water treatment technology that can treat wastewater as the contaminants are concentrated.
The main aim of the Zero Liquid Discharge is to recover usable materials such as water and salt from effluent, and; minimize the generation of waste so that it can be safely stored on-site without the need for discharge into the environment it can be reused also.
In reference to the Department of Environment of Narsingdi, Bangladesh has given PRAN Dairy ltd. condition to implement the Zero Discharge Plan (ZDP) into their plant premises to achieve the Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC). In need of that, on-behalf of the PRAN Dairy Ltd industry, the consultants of EQMS Consulting Ltd. were appointed to study the PRAN Dairy industrial system and their total water balance system and taken all data to prepare the Zero Discharge Plan report and present to the Department of Environment (DoE) Dhaka Head office and prepare the other necessary documents and get the clearance for PRAN Dairy Ltd.
